Coed Clase forest school
Our class attends forest school every Monday afternoon and in all weathers. Don't forget to bring your wellies and waterproofs.
Our topic for this term has been 'glitter and glow'. The children have enjoyed various activities including walks in Penellegaer woods, writing in glitter and having fires in Coed Clase. We also celebrated Diwali.
Children in Need.
The pupils took part in lots of activities including decorating biscuits, making hats and playing games in class, as well as dressing up for the day.
On 3.12.18 our class were lucky enough to visit Poundffald farm in Three crosses. All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We saw sheep and pigs in the barn, wondered through the fields of Christmas trees to find chocolate coins as well as walking through Santa's grotto. Mrs Claus read us a Christmas story and we also got to see the main man him self, Father Christmas.
Our topic this term is 'scrumptious'.
We have been super busy already looking a lots of different foods.
The children decided to throw Miss Smith a party for her birthday in January. The children wrote a shopping list of things we needed to buy and then on our weekly shopping visit we bought the items including those to make sandwiches. On the day all the children made their own sandwiches as part of our topic.
To celebrate St Dwynwen's day the children decorated heart shaped biscuits.
Chinese New Year
To celebrate Chinese New Year at the beginning of March we made colourful dragon masks and tried Chinese foods including, noodles, prawn crackers, egg fried rice, chicken wontons, vegetable spring rolls and fortune cookies.
St Davids Day
The whole school celebrated with a competition from each class. Our class decided to make paper plate dragons.
This was the winning entry by Dexter Todd.
The whole class also came in their best welsh clothes.
We celebrated World Book day by dressing up as our favourite characters.
The Easter bunny came to visit us today. We made lots of crafts to celebrate Easter including making chocolate Easter nests.
We planted some broad beans last month. We have been to water them and we are beginning to see a shoot on them. Lets see who will have the tallest plant.
RSPB came to visit and we went over to Coed Clase to see what bugs we could find. The class had lots of fun moving logs and looking for bugs. We found slugs, beetles, spiders, worms and ants. Did you know a slug has 15000 teeth! They are similar to our taste buds.
For this term our topic is 'Beach'. We have already been very busy looking at all things beach and seaside. This is going to be a very busy term with lots of activities planned as well as the annual garden party and summer concert.
If you come across any pebbles, shells or anything beach related please bring them in to class so we can talk about them.
Our bean plants have been busy growing and we have been recording our findings in our bean diaries.
We have been busy painting sea creatures. We then used the ipads and 'kiddle' a child friendly search engine to find facts.
