Foundation Phase - Extra Curricular Activities

Age group - Foundation Phase

 

Croeso! Clwb Cymraeg is a lunchtime club where children can engage with their learning of the Welsh language through a range of fun and exciting games and activities. This club is run three times a week in both Foundation Phase and in Key Stage 2, and aims to promote a positive attitude to the Welsh language whilst having fun at the same time! The club endeavours to help children to learn new age-appropriate vocabulary whilst simultaneously reinforcing their current and previous classroom learning of key Welsh words, patterns and phrases.

Forest Schools 

 

Wednesday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 1/2

 

Forest schools is a fun and exciting club that allows children to explore the outdoors. They will take part in engaging activities and games that can only be played outside. On top of that children will learn new skills and may even enjoy the odd cup of hot chocolate!

Art Club

Wednesday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 2

 

Art club is specifically for year 2 pupils, allowing them to explore different materials indoors and outdoors and provides them with the opportunity to create their own art work. Each week children will be inspired by famous artiists to help them create their own pieces of work. Pupils will experience different materials such as paint, oil, pastels, chalk, pencils, water paints and natural resources.  Children will also take part in various crafts related to different topics throughout the year such as Chinese new year, valentines day and much more. Get ready to get creative!

Multi Skills

 

Thursday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 1 and Year 2

 

Multi skills is a club that provides children with the opportunity to learn about a range of different sports. Sports included are, football, tennis, netball and rugby. Each week will focus on a different sport and the skills within it. This club will provide a fun an exciting introduction into sport, as well as aiding the physical development of children.

Science Club

Wednesday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 1

 

Science Club is an after school session available for year 1 children. They will be introduced to the marvels of science, through fun and imaginative experiments. We will be swapping groups every term to allow as many children to take part as possible.

Signing Choir

Monday and Wednesday - Lunchtime

Age Group - Year 3/4/5/6

 

For anyone who has witnessed the signing choir in action, they will agree that they are amazing! Providing outstanding displays of songs through the use of sign language. If you ever have the opportunity to see them, it is surely not to be missed.

Year 3/4 Football

Monday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 3/4

 

This club will consist of drills and game scenarios to develop an understanding of football, as well as the skills that make up the sport. The club will be played outdoors whenever possible but may be played indoors depending on weather. Please ensure appropriate footwear is worn during the club.

Digital Club

Tuesday and Thursday - Lunchtime

Age Group - Year 3/4/5/6

 

In Digital Club pupils are able to explore a variety of programmes across a range of digital platforms. Pupils are encouraged to explore and use their HWB accounts to do different tasks. Pupils can choose to go on a variety of academic games on the ChromeBooks and iPads.

Year 3/4 Homework Club

 

Tuesday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm
Age Group - Year 3/4

 

Homework club provides pupils with the opportunity to complete tasks from their homework grids with the support of their teachers if they need it. Children are able to use all resources that we have available in school to help to complete their homework including Chromebooks, iPads, dictionaries, a wide variety of reading materials, paper, pens, pencils, glue, card and a wide variety of other creativity resources.

Lego Club

Wednesday - Lunchtime
Age group - Year 3/4/5/6

 

This club is an opportunity for pupils to build Lego constructions using both physical resources available to them and Lego software on the computer. Pupils are able to develop teamwork skills through working in small groups to complete construction projects and are able to utilise their problem solving skills.

Netball

Wednesday - 3:30pm - 4:20pm

Age Group - Year 3/4/5/6

Netball club involves the delivery of numerous skills relating to passing, catching, dodging, agility, tactics, team work and rules of the game. Netball is both competitive and non-competitive and we are looking to develop skills further in Bishop Vaughan Comprehensive School with the support of AYP officers working for the authority.

Year 5/6 Football

Age Group - Year 5/6

Singing Choir

Thursday - Lunchtime

Age Group - Year 3/4/5/6

 

Our singing choir is a fantastic little group led by Mr N Lewis and Miss Ford. They have a range of songs that they are capable of performing and are regularly invited out to external events. Be sure not to miss them if you get the chance.

Coding Club

 

Friday - Lunchtime 
Age group - Year 3/4/5/6

 

Coding Club is an opportunity for the children to explore a variety of coding activities. Pupils are able to code microbits using online software, programme spheros and use scratch to create programmes. Through these activities pupils use their problem solving, collaboration and systematic thinking skills.
