We have a very busy Autumn Term planned. The topic that we are covering is 'Epic Explorers'. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn about the world around us and the amazing creatures who inhabit it. To engage the children in this awesome topic, we will be visiting the Theatre to watch 'The Butterfly Hunter'.
The children will set sail on an epic adventure from Wales to Brazil during this fantastic play that includes magical storytelling, an interactive element where the audience embark on their own expedition and opportunities to learn about Victorian explorers, environmentalism, sustainability and conservation. They will also have opportunities to take part in workshops at the National Waterfront Museum.
Our morning sessions have received a makeover this year, which we are all very excited about! All pupils in year 5 and year 6 will now complete three lessons every morning - numeracy, literacy and science. The children have been assigned 'Houses' - Madoc, Gwenllian and Llywelyn. The pupils will battle it out by reaching high, learning together and having fun! The house with the most dojo points at the end of each term will receive a special reward. Please speak to your child and ask questions about the house that they belong to - our learners are so excited about this new system (and very competitive!)
As part of our transition work with our local comprehensives, pupils will have opportunity to attend a number of classroom and sporting activities to prepare them for their move to secondary school. Year 6 will take part in transition rugby sessions every Friday afternoon.
