Emergency Childcare Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

For most pupils, this school will close indefinitely from the end of the school day, 20th March. However, following a meeting of Morriston Headteachers this morning, we have agreed to work together, in the first instance, to open each school to support those parents and carers who are employed in the following essential workers categories as determined and directed by City and County of Swansea:

  • NHS workers
  • Emergency services
  • Police workers
  • Prison services
  • School workers
  • Social care workers

From Monday 23rd March, all schools in the cluster will open their buildings to operate emergency childcare for pupils between 3 and 14 years old. Your child will be supervised by staff from our school on a rota basis.

At present, this care is only available to single parent families or families where BOTH parents or carers fall into the essential workers categories listed above.

Initially, we will be open for children Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. It is envisaged that this can be a drop-in facility.  We are anticipating that breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. However, until we receive confirmation we would advise that you provide your child with a packed lunch.

Please ensure that the current data we hold for you in school is up to date, including emergency contacts and allergies.  You will be required to indicate who will pick up your child on a daily basis.

It is of immense importance that you follow current advice regarding hygiene and social distancing. Please see previous guidance from UK/WG websites.

It is our understanding that all childcare facilities, including, Flying Start, will operate as usual subject to staffing arrangements.

Please be assured that the health, safety and wellbeing of all our staff is of paramount importance and we continue to monitor this with the relevant bodies.

These arrangements follow the guidance issued to schools by the City and County of Swansea and will be monitored on a regular basis. We will keep you updated via the school website and usual communication channels.

Regards
