Letter to Parents

Dear Parent/Carer,

I would like to thank you for all your support over the last few weeks since our schools closed to the majority of learners. I’m extremely proud of all the staff who work across schools and Education in Swansea as they’ve dealt with this crisis in a professional and caring way as they always do.

I’m also proud of our amazing children and young people who continue to show resilience and are fully engaged in their learning. It is such a pleasure to see Social Media full of examples of the positives that have come from this very difficult situation.

In Wales, it is the Welsh Government that will make the decision on when it is safe for our pupils, parents and school staff to return to our schools. As it currently stands there is no date for this to happen in Wales. When a decision is taken for learners to return to schools this will be communicated well in advance to parents.

Please be assured that we are working closely with our schools to ensure that they are supported in preparing for when this time comes. In the meantime, critical workers and those who need to use our emergency childcare hubs should continue do so. We will only look to have more pupils and staff in schools when it is safe to do so.

Yours sincerely

Nick Williams Director of Education
