Foundation Phase Specialist Teaching Facility for MLD - Miss Holloway

Welcome to Our Class!

Miss Holloway is our teacher and we are lucky to be supported in our learning by Mrs Whittle, Miss Smith and Mrs Froom.

We like to learn through exploring things and we especially love messy play. We may come home messy some days, but that's because we have been having lots of fun.

A few helpful reminders!

  • Class fund is paid on a Monday every week and is £3. This covers our fruit, snack, cooking and going out on the minibus shopping every week.
  • Our PE day is on a Thursday afternoon.
  • We do lots of messy play so could we please have spare clothes just in case we get a little bit dirty!
  • We cook on a Friday and we cook or taste different things every week! (We like to try healthy snacks)
  • For this half term we will be having our Forest Schools session on a Wednesday morning.
  • We go shopping on a Thursday/ Friday every week, if this changes we will let you know!

Thank you for your continued support :)

A Little Note

We have provided a range of home learning activities that you can complete with your child. We also have links to different sites that will support your child’s learning. We recommend that you spend 2 hours a day completing learning activities provided. Please can all parents continue to work on pupils’ IEP targets at home daily.

HWB

Hwb has a range of fun and interactive activities for your child to access at home. In order for your child to access it you will need their individual HWB account details (their username and password). Some of the activities we like to use on HWB can be found on J2E/Jit.This can be found on your homepage once you have logged onto your HWB account. We love using paint to create pictures and turtle to guide the bee to the flowers using directions.

If you are unsure of your child’s HWB log in details please email your child’s Class Teacher. Additionally if you have any questions about your child’s learning would you please email us on the following:

How to use HWB

As you know our topic for this term is Lightbulb and will be based around light and dark. We will also be learning about day time and night time routines. Here are some activities you can do with your child to support their learning:

1. Listen to bedtime stories together.

2. Look out of the window and count the stars at night.

3. Brush your teeth together.

4. Try different types of breakfast foods such as cereal or egg on toast.

5. Listen to and sing rhymes such as 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'

You can listen to these songs on the BBC School Radio Website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06kbsbz

We have enjoyed exploring light this week. We had lots of fun in the UV room, everything glowed in the dark.

We also enjoyed learning about Saint Dwynwens day - We made cards for our special person who 'lights' up our life.

2018-19

What a busy year we had!! Our Spring term topic - 'scrumptious' was a great success with all the pupils learning about healthy and unhealthy foods as well as everyone having a go at trying new foods. During the Summer term our topic was 'beach'. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed visiting Langland bay.

Autumn term 2019

Our topic this term is 'Heroes: people who help us'.

19.9.19

The fire service came to school today. We all had a chance to sit in the fire engine and even held the hose when it was squirting water across the yard. What a lot of fun we had!!!
